This is a classic nature style layout. Wood pieces extend out from the center mimicking the structure of natural branches stretching out. Bunches of stem plants are used to give volume to the aquascape in the middle. Here a touch of red is provided by an attractive bush of Ludwigia arcuata. Red plants are used to draw attention to focal points in aquascapes - focal points can be plants themselves but also intersection of composition lines or attractive hardscape. Here a clean sand "beach" contrasts well with the planted island. This approach is a good alternative if one does not want to manage a planted carpet. Clear clean glass, clean sand accentuates the crystal clear water and fishes.
